The
World Synthetic Fibres Supply/Demand Report 2007
Red
Book
This report, commonly known as the Red Book, is available
now.
The new edition of PCI’s Red Book (World Synthetic
Fibres Supply/Demand Report 2007) gives an
up-to-date review of the market, noting especially the
growing influence of China. Demand prospects at consumer and
mill level for all types of textile fibre (natural and
manufactured) are analysed, with production estimates that
relate to existing and future capacity for the main
synthetics (acrylic, nylon, polyester). For the first time,
the mill demand analysis splits out the various components
of nylon and polyester filament; that is, as textile,
industrial and carpet filament, with allowance for
variations such as filament spunbonded fabrics. The supply
side for the different types of nylon and polyester fibre is
presented in the form of country production data and company
capacity by plant. In the capacity tables, note is also made
by country of the different types of industrial filament
(HDI, LDI, mono) as well as filament spunbonded (FSB).
The report for 2007 contains over 400 pages together with a CD. Data years run from 1990 to 2006 for acrylic, nylon and
polyester, with estimates for 2007 and forecasts from 2008 to 2015. The supply and demand volumes are consolidated into 13
global regions in a series of unique supply/demand graphs which lead to a world overview for the main
synthetics.
