Fibres Report
A typical issue of Fibres Report
presents a front page overview on global fibres demand. A raw materials commentary follows with information on
recent market developments in Acrylonitrile, Caprolactam, Cellulose Pulp, MEG, PTA, Polypropylene - all set alongside the
latest prices for Asia/Far East, the USA and West Europe.
Detailed sections then cover Acrylic and Viscose
fibres followed by Nylon, Spandex and Polyester, again covering Asia/Far East, the USA and West Europe. The centre pages contain
prices for some 40 fibre products which are tracked every month. Also to be found in Fibres Report are news and comments on
product and market developments including the natural fibres (in particular cotton).
Technical Fibres Report
This report provides product and market news together
with analysis from our consultancy team in support of the industry, covering developments in the global markets for industrial
fibres and fabrics, with regular coverage of the auto and tyre industries. Other sectors are also covered from time to time,
such as airbags and MRG. As with Fibres Report, there is also a summary of the market for raw materials.
Textile Pipeline
This quarterly
report explores in each issue a different aspect of the fibres and textile industry, with insight and data
not available from any other source. The format allows for a regular update of broad trends in fibres and textile demand.
The Data behind Textile Pipeline
The numbers underlying Textile Pipeline are from our
unparalleled database. Historical mill consumption and final demand data for wool, cotton and manufactured fibres (split at
the mill level as the competing MMF fibres) extend back to 1980 for all of the PCI regions (and in some cases back to 1960).
The comprehensive database for trade covers fibres, spun yarns, fabrics, finished textiles and apparel for wool, cotton and
MMF - perhaps the most complete and consistent measure of global and regional textile trade available to the industry. This
detail is the basis for the forecasts published in Textile Pipeline. Using our unique Textile Pipeline Stocks methodology, we estimate fibre demand at both the final consumer
and textile mill levels. By concentrating on volume by weight, our analysis avoids the many distortions that can arise in
alternative techniques which attempt to forecast volumes using other more generalised economic data.
Textile Pipeline Special
In its usual 16-page form the Textile Pipeline (see above)
provides clients with a quarterly review of wool, cotton and MMF based on our analysis if Textile Pipeline Stocks. This form
of the service is published each year in Q1, Q3 and Q4.
In Q2 each year however we expand the scope of the service
to a Textile Pipeline Special which presents a thorough update of the previous Red Book which comes out each autumn. Thus,
the Textile Pipeline Special for Q2 2010 will provide an update by region of our demand analysis in the light of full year
data for 2009. Its format is close to that found in the demand section of the Red Book and comprises some 150 pages
of regional analysis. The Textile Pipeline Special also includes a regional update of mill demand and production estimates
for acrylic, nylon and polyester. Data years to be shown are 2005-2009 with estimates for 2010 and forecasts for 2011
and 2012.
Red Book 2010
The PCI Fibres Red Book (World Synthetic Fibres Supply/Demand Report) provides every year an up-to-date
review of the market, noting especially the growing influence of China. Demand prospects at consumer and mill level for thr
broad categories of textile fibre (natural and manufactured) are analysed, with production estimates that relate to existing
and future capacity for the main synthetics (acrylic, nylon, polyester). The mill demand analysis splits out the various components
of nylon and polyester filament; that is, as textile, industrial and carpet filament, with allowance for variants such as
filament spunbonded fabrics. The supply side for acrylic, nylon and polyester fibre is presented in the form of country production
data and company capacity by plant. In the capacity tables note is also made by country of the different types of industrial
filament (HDI, LDI, mono).

The report for 2009 was published in November 2009 and contains 430 pages. Data years were from
1990 to 2008, with estimates for 2009 and forecasts from 2010 to 2015. The supply and demand volumes are consolidated into
13 global regions in a series of unique supply/demand graphs which lead to a world overview for the main synthetics.
